Smart Living City Dubai, a biannual event highlighting Smart City concepts in Dubai, has revealed that it will be organizing a major competition for the startups running up to the event. The competition invites startups to come up with the most innovative and creative ideas based on any one of the eight Smarter City topics – education, healthcare, environment, energy and water, public safety, government, building, and transportation – to help Dubai achieve the status of a smarter city, according Enterprise Channels. The Smart Living City competition will be looking out for the startups, including thinkers, problem solvers and creators, with the cutting edge idea for Smart Cities. The contest will not only provide a platform to present their vision of a Smart City but also help them bring it to life. The last date for submission of the Smart City proposal is July 31, 2014.

The entries will be judged by a panel of mentors based on the criteria such as the innovative and unique proposal, time to market/implementation, scalability, feasibility, and sustainability. The judging panel comprises Suniel Mishra, Partner USA, Inside Investor; Kamran Saddique, Co-Founder and Partner USA of Inside Investor and Serb Jodha, an Entrepreneurial Executive focused on startups in South East Asia.

Masood Al Awar, CEO, TASWEEK Real Estate Development and Marketing, said, “We have launched a series of competition leading up to Smart Living City Dubai 2014 as we feel they are the most effective way to instill more awareness about the concept of Smart City among the general public. We are looking forward to the most creative and original entries for the competition and are upbeat that the proposals will be practical and sustainable that can be implemented seamlessly. Through this competition, we once again want to reiterate our firm support to the Dubai Government’s effort to transform the emirate into a Smart City.”
