Connex and SMURD Targu Mures (Mobile Emergency Service for Resuscitation and Extrication) are pleased to announce their partnership resulting in a new telemedicine solution that will increase the capabilities and the efficiency of the mobile units in emergency interventions.

Through a EUR 100,000 Connex sponsorship, eight SMURD ambulances are now endowed with medical equipment (automate external defibrillation and monitoring devices) and communications equipment enabling the transmission of the medical parameters from the first response mobile units to the national 112 dispatch, as well as to the Targu Mures Hospital emergency room.

'The partnership with SMURD Targu Mures is part of our continuous commitment to support initiatives that can improve community'™s life. This time, we were able to combine our products and services with financial support resulting in a new useful telemedicine solution. SMURD is one of the most appreciated emergency services in the country and we are happy to contribute to making their activity even more efficient', said Marian Velicu, Vice President Regulatory, Strategy and Public Affairs, Connex.

'The first response crews in small towns and rural areas will be able to stay in touch permanently with the dispatch staff and benefit from specialized assistance through the communication solutions and services offered by Connex. This partnership will help us respond faster and better in emergency situations and, after all, save lives', said Raed Arafat, SMURD Director.

Connex developed and implemented an integrated communications solution for SMURD, enabling the transmission of the medical investigations and life support monitoring data from the mobile crew to the central dispatch. In addition, Connex provided SMURD teams with 20 mobile handsets, hands free devices and car kits, including 4,000 free minutes monthly.

Connex also donated four computers completely equipped, to be used by SMURD dispatch and the Emergency Department from the Mures County Hospital in Targu Mures.
The partnership between Connex and SMURD Targu Mures goes back to 2004, when a first communications solution was tested.
