In a difficult and challenging year, COSMOTE Romania continued on its successful business course and preserved an excellent performance.

"COSMOTE’s main goal is to make mobile telephony accessible to all Romanians. This was our promise since launching operations in 2005 and this will continue to guide us in the future. Thanks to the openness and unmatched inventiveness of the COSMOTE professionals in all domains, the company managed to secure a strong kernel of loyal customers, both post-paid and prepaid, who contributed to the financial performance of 2010, announced on February 25th.

Briefly, COSMOTE Romania total revenues in 2010 reached 468.8 million Euro, posting a 7.2% growth on a y-o-y basis. EBITDA rose to 73.7 million Euro, a 12.7% increase vs 2009. These are the results of the multi-year effort so far.

"COSMOTE invested in Romania in the last 6 years almost 1 billion euro in total, almost matching the revenues posted so far since 2005 – 1.4 billion euro. A quick calculation shows that from each 1.4 euro in revenue, COSMOTE returned in Romania 1 euro in investments, during the last 6 years. This financial effort was quite significant at the beginning, following a normally descending curve along the years", Konstantinos Apostolou, COSMOTE Romania Financial Division Director, told journalists.

COSMOTE will continue to invest and develop its activities, strengthening its footprint on the market and optimizing its financial performance.

"In 2011, we will invest in the same pace as in 2010, and the investments will be directed to all core areas of the business, especially in customer touch points and continuing to focus on the corporate and broadband segments, on network enhancement, launching latest technologies", Konstantinos Apostolou, COSMOTE Romania Financial Division Director added.

"Based on our shareholders’ international expertise and vision, and keeping close to the local market’s needs, we will continue to expand our portfolio with the last generation products & services to the benefit of the Romanian consumers, who deserve to be up to date to global trends", Mr. Apostolou stressed.
