The first BETT Middle East, 2010 held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre is proving to be an outstanding success after its first day.

Throughout the first day (Saturday 21 November) BETT Middle East attracted teachers and education ministers coming to experience the most innovative technology in education solutions.

Co-located with Building Future Education (BFE) MENA, the two day event has enabled all visitors from in and around the Middle East to touch, test and discover how teaching and learning in the region can be transformed through technology.

At the start of the first day Prof. Ralph Tabberer, chief of schools, and COO MENASA, GEMS Education gave the keynote address on the achievement of ‘world class’ learning in the Middle East. He was supported by a number of exceptionally experienced panellists including Haif Bannayan, CEO, Jordan Education Initiative and Dr. Hala Taweel, President, University of the Middle East Project (UME) to name just two.

To raise awareness of the importance of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects, BETT Middle East has teamed up with Richard Noble OBE, to invite students to take part in a competition to design a BLOODHOUND vehicle. During the afternoon of the first day, the Bloodhound SSC challenge sponsored by Promethean awarded certificates to the student winner and runner up in each age group category.

Today’s seminar programme includes at 14:15 a case study session where visitors will hear of two large-scale technology deployments by Ministries of Education in the GCC region. Ministry of Education in Kuwait will be sharing their education modernisation strategy and the key initiatives within this strategy.

The inspiring seminar programme continues throughout the day.

Endorsed by the Abu Dhabi Education Council BETT Middle East will continue to inspire educators tomorrow, Monday 22 November with doors opening at 9.00am. Please visit www.bettmiddleeast.com for the details of the seminar programme listing and full programme of activities.
