KPN has launched a national IoT service for businesses called KPN Things. The aim is to offer organisations an easy and scalable entry platform to enter the IoT, including hardware, network and data services, and consulting, according Telecompaper. The new offering is based on the Dutch operator's many years of experience in M2M and enterprise services. The services take advantage of its LoRa and mobile networks, with fixed monthly prices for the platform and services. The offering is scalable, so new devices or services can be added as a business grows.
KPN completed the roll-out of its national LoRa network last year and said in mid-2016 it had contracts for over 1.5 million IoT devices on the network already. The company also started testing LTE-M services last year and said it aims to start the services late this year as modules become available.
