Motorola Solutions was awarded a contract by Moldova's Ministry of Internal Affairs to expand their mission-critical Tetra communications network, according Telecompaper. Within the framework of the contract, Motorola Solutions will extend the existing Tetra digital radio network and build a nationwide Tetra network for the Moldovan police. The project will be implemented by 2020 in collaboration with the local subcontractor Bass Systems and funded by the EU Budget Support 2 to support the Moldovan Police Reform. As part of this programme, the police in the Southeastern European country will be provided with a communications system that can be extended to other services at a later stage.

In order to extend and upgrade the existing Tetra network in Moldova, Motorola Solutions will provide the public safety organisations with its new Dimetra X Core Tetra system and additional Tetra infrastructure equipment including its MTS1 and MTS4 Tetra base stations as well as microwave links for IP connectivity.

The future-proof Tetra digital radio system and infrastructure will enable the Moldavian police to provide increased public safety for the citizens of the Republic. The technology will be staged at Motorola Solutions’ Tetra Center of Excellence in Berlin, Germany.
