Romania's Competition Council fined Orange Romania EUR 10 million for abusing its dominant position in its relationship with companies in the SMS payments and the SMS advertising markets, writes local paper Ziarul Financiar citing several sources in the industry. The fine represents over 1 percent of the operator's 2016 turnover and is the result of an investigation from 2016 against the operator for possible discriminatory treatment of providers of SMS-based payments and ads. Orange representatives did not want to comment on the information, according Telecompaper.
