Romanian telecommunications authority Ancom will go ahead with the decision not to modify the interconnection tariffs for fixed and mobile telephony, according to local paper Ziarul Financiar. The regulator is maintaining its initial view presented a few months ago, which is supported by the Orange giants, Vodafone and Telekom, according to the data available on the institution's website, according Telecompaper. The Ancom decision was taken after several months of consultations and will be presented on 9 October at a meeting of the Ancom Consultative Council.
By taking this decision, Ancom did not follow a recommendation coming from Romania's Competition Council to initiate "as soon as possible" the procedures for the revision of the calculation model for interconnection tariffs in fixed and mobile telephony instead of proposing the freezing of these tariffs at the 2014 level.
