Romanian telecommunications authority Ancom said 700,712 telephone numbers were ported from the beginning of 2017 up to mid-October, according Telecompaper. More than 4.2 million telephone numbers switched operators 9 years since number portability was introduced. Among these, over 3.5 million are mobile telephony numbers and almost 700,000 are fixed telephony numbers. More and more Romanians chose to switch operators, while keeping their telephone number every year, Ancom said. Their number increased from 844,477 in 2015 to 939,663 in 2016.
During these 9 years, RCS&RDS leads the portability classification for mobile ported numbers with 1.326 million, followed by Vodafone with 844,811, Orange with 824,608, Telekom Romania Mobile Communications with 504,731, and Telekom Romania Communications with 59,656. This trend continues in 2017. During January – October, RCS&RDS received the highest amount of ported numbers, namely 330,699, followed by Orange with 144,469, Vodafone with 117,595, Telekom Romania Mobile Communications with 45,906 and Telekom Romania Communications 16,593. RCS & RDS also attracted the highest number of fixed numbers during January – October, 18,983, followed by Vodafone with 13,483 numbers, Orange with 5,583 numbers, UPC with 4,633 numbers and Telekom Romania Communications with 1,313 numbers ported.
