RTX Telecom will supply an advanced DECT handset which offers full mobility within the entire coverage area of the DECT system of Atlas Telecom Network, besides previously agreed products like a Cordless Terminal Adapter, a desktop DECT phone, indoor and outdoor repeaters and products for use in the Wireless Local Loop (WLL).

RTX Telecom Group has made an agreement with Atlas Telecom Network in Romania covering the development, production and supply of a wireless DECT telephone which will become part of Atlas Telecom Network'™s DECT system. The system will offer an inexpensive and effective telephone service to customers in Romania and to other Eastern European countries in future. The telephone service will be based on wireless connections to individual subscribers.

The product to be developed and supplied by RTX is an advanced DECT handset which offers full mobility within the entire coverage area of the DECT system.

The current agreement is an extension of a larger contract announced on 20 January 2005 for the development, production and supply of wireless DECT products for use in Atlas Telecom Network'™s DECT system. The initial agreement covered an indoor repeater and a specially-developed outdoor version with built-in directional antenna, battery and extended temperature range and a Cordless Terminal Adapter (CTA) for individual subscribers which when connected to a standard telephone provides ordinary telephone service, and a desktop phone with built-in DECT function that works as an ordinary telephone for the user.

In May this year, RTX Telecom Group also received additional orders from Atlas Telecom for wireless DECT products used in the so-called Wireless Local Loop (WLL) system.

The agreements represent a double figure million sum in Danish kroner and are based on delivery of the final product. According to the terms, the RTX Telecom Group will be responsible for development and production, whilst the customer will handle sales, distribution and after-sales services. The RTX Telecom Group production requirements for the deal has been outsourced to subcontractors.

Supply of the products is expected to run over several years as Atlas Telecom extends its DECT system, beginning at the end of the financial year 2005/2006 (the coming financial year for RTX Telecom) which will see the net effect of the project development costs.
