For 10 years, Telekom Romania Foundation is alongside P.A.V.E.L Association, the Association of parents whose children suffer from cancer, leukaemia and severe anaemia in an initiative aiming to bring joyful moments to children suffering from these serious illnesses. As part of this collaboration, in December, Telekom Romania Foundation’s volunteers visit children in pediatric oncology and hematology departments of the Institute of Oncology Prof. Dr. Alexandru Trestioreanu, Fundeni Clinic Institute, M.S.Curie Emergency Children Hospital and Emergency Hospital for Children “Grigore Alexandrescu”. This week, 220 children received the visit and gifts of Santa Claus and spent a few moments with the volunteers of the Telekom Foundation.
"This year's action has a special significance as it marks ten years of partnership with P.A.V.E.L Association, alongside which, year over year, we have succeeded in creating for holidays a magical world for children who are facing serious medical conditions. Over the course of 10 years, Telekom Romania Foundation has provided gifts to approximately 2,500 children in specialized hospitals", stated Ionela Păunică, Executive Director, Telekom Romania Foundation and PR Expert, Telekom Romania.
"We wholeheartedly thank to Telekom Foundation for its demonstrated responsibility in front of the needs and challenges that these children face, we want to thank to all the volunteers who have never hesitated to join us to celebrate Christmas in hospitals, but also at other events! The Telekom team has proven to be one of the most dedicated and involved in the lives of sick children", stated Olga Cridland, Founding Member and President, P.A.V.E.L. Association.
According to World Health Organization, each year, around the world more than 200,000 children are diagnosed with cancer. With access to quality care, more than 80% of children with cancer can survive.
In Romania, the incidence is 7.35 per 100,000 inhabitants, and the distribution of tumor types is similar to international statistics.
