Thai satellite operator Thaicom posted a consolidated net profit of THB 2.11 billion for the first half of 2018, which represents an increase of 345 percent from THB 475 million in the first six months of 2017, according Telecompaper. Revenue growth was mainly boosted by profits from the sale of CSL’s share of THB 1.95 billion recognized in the first quarter of 2018.  
 
The company generated consolidated revenue from sales of goods and rendering of services for first half of 2018 of THB 2.99 billion, down 17 percent compared to the same period of 2017. The company’s net profit of the second quarter of 2018 reached THB 251 million, which represents an increase of 16 percent from THB 216 million in the year-earlier period, despite a drop from revenue of 7 percent in the quarter ended 30 June 2018.
 
Thaicom’s telecommunication and mobile service provider subsidiary in Lao PDR, Lao Telecommunications (LTC), ended June with 1.51 million mobile subscribers (excluded fixed wireless), claiming a share of 57.5 percent of Thailand’s mobile market, up from 55.7 percent in June 2017.
