Vodafone Romania is negotiating a deal to access Telekom Romania's fixed network to attack the retail segment with fixed-mobile packages, writes local paper Ziarul Financiar citing sources. The two groups were close to signing a contract three months ago, but they didn't pass details, according Telecompaper. The decision is now on the agenda of Vodafone Romania's newly appointed CEO Murielle Lorilloux (photo). An eventual agreement will enable the operator to reach its goal of expanding on the fixed segment and of having a stronger presence in households.
The biggest "risk" Vodafone Romania faces if it enters the agreement with Telekom Romania is the possible alliance between Vodafone and UPC that would reconfigure the local communications market.
