A historic agreement has been reached between Swedish SME company aWaves Academy and 3GPP – the global telecommunications standard organization. The agreement is a joint venture proposal for implementation of a unique set of tools for engineers, which allow cognitive and quick assimilation of complex technical knowledge in a totally new way.

The solution is launched today, on January 17th, 2011 as an integrated offer at 3GPP’s website and on http://www.thespectool.com/3gpp <http://www.thespectool.com/3gpp> . 3GPP is responsible for all worldwide maintenance and development of technical standards for GSM, UMTS and LTE.

Today’s telecom systems are very complex and a good understanding of the standards is compulsory. The challenge for developing engineers is to get a quick but detailed technical knowledge of these systems, which up until now has been very time consuming. The innovation and what TheSpecTool makes happen is a new cognitive way to get detailed assessment of the 3GPP standards. The advantage for telecom engineers is significantly reduced study time by up to 40%, which dramatically reduces the costs. This consequently results in larger revenues for any company in the telecom industry.

The interest from leading operators and manufacturers is extensive and a long line of top tier actors including leading LTE vendors, are testing the tool.

"We have delivered advanced LTE training to leading players since 2008 and most engineers are giving us the same feed-back – we need to go as deep as possible within one or two protocols. That’s what we deliver with TheSpecTool. The interest from the market is huge", says Hans Broström, CEO of aWaves Academy and lead developer behind TheSpecTool.
