ZTE announced that it's filed a formal request for a stay of the export ban imposed by the US government against the company. The application was made to the Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security, according Telecompaper. ZTE said it also submitted additional information to the BIS as requested under its order.

It was unclear whether the US government would be open to the request for a stay. Earlier reports suggested that it was willing to open an "informal process" to hear more evidence from ZTE. The ban on exports from the US to ZTE was imposed for violations of the compliance agreement made by ZTE after the Chinese company violated US sanctions against Iran.
