The European Commission attended the Photonics21 Annual Meeting 2012 in Brussels.

Photonics21 is the European Photonics Community which aims to implement a common photonics strategy for Europe and to align synergies between industry, science and politics.

We talked to Neelie Kroes, European Commission's Vice-President for the Digital Agenda, who received the OSA award from the industry for her support to Photonics. We also met with several key actors from DG INFSO/CNECT, the European Parliament and the Photonics industry who told us about the relevance of a photonics Public Private Partnership (PPP) within the framework of Horizon2020.
