The European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing goes from plan to action
A joint conference on the Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing will be held by DG Health and Consumers and DG Information Society tomorrow, 3rd of April, in Brussels. It will be opened by the Vice President of the European Commission responsible for the Digital Agenda, Neelie Kroes, the Commissioner for Health and Consumers, John Dalli, and László Andor, Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion.
The main purpose of the conference is to provide practical information on how to participate in the Partnership, and how to get support for the development of initiatives fostering active and healthy ageing. The various ways to get involved will be explained - from responding to the Invitation for Commitment to expressing your intent to become a candidate Reference Site - the opportunities to join the Partnership are now open. A digital platform, a marketplace for innovative ideas will be launched tomorrow for the stakeholders keen on joining the Partnership.
Ministers, representatives of national and regional authorities, health and social care professionals, industry, insurers and NGOs will be among the speakers and participants who will join the debate on how take the Partnership's agenda forward, from the Strategic Implementation Plan to concrete and deliverable actions.
Visitors to the exhibition will be able to see and try out successful innovative solutions for active and healthy ageing that come from across Europe. Exhibitors will demonstrate how they can improve the quality and efficiency of care by addressing major chronic conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, COPD or diabetes; through the deployment of innovative practices such as e-health, remote monitoring solutions or via phone applications. Home care and ambient assisted living solutions will demonstrate their positive impact on a patient's quality of life.
