ETNO Interactive Workshop
Brussels 23 November 2011, 11.00-17.00
In line with the recent European Commission roadmap towards a low carbon economy and the Smart Cities Initiative, and bearing in mind the role that the ICT sector has to play in this context, the aim of the ETNO workshop is to raise awareness of energy-efficient ICT-enabled solutions, to identify policy and regulatory obstacles and initiate a dialogue with the main stakeholders in the energy sector.
Information and communication technologies (ICT) have an essential role to play in upgrading traditional energy systems and addressing energy efficiency, reducing CO2 emissions and enhancing energy supply. High-performing broadband networks will facilitate future smart grid applications such as distributed generation, electric cars, energy storage, demand response, virtual power plants and home automation. In turn, these applications will stimulate demand for new networks.
This ETNO conference will seek to foster an open discussion among the ICT and energy industries and policy makers to find synergies, opportunities and a common view for the successful development of broadband networks and smart grids in Europe.
Topics for discussion will include business models, regulatory aspects, privacy issues.
