The goal of the PEPPOL (Pan--European Public Procurement Online) project is to offer European companies the ability to provide goods or services to any public sector buyer, anywhere in Europe. PEPPOL has created software specifications, made open source software sample implementations, and established standards based common business processes and an open electronic document transport infrastructure. Through this, PEPPOL is a potential backbone for eProcurement in Europe.
